Code of Conduct for Committee Members

This Code of Conduct outlines the standards expected of all committee members to ensure the effective, professional, and harmonious management of Omagh Harriers A.C.

1. General Principles

  • Act in the best interests of Omagh Harriers A.C. and its members at all times.
  • Foster an environment of respect, inclusion, and professionalism.
  • Promote the values of fairness, integrity, and transparency within the club.

2. Confidentiality

  • Keep all discussions, documents, and sensitive information from committee meetings strictly confidential unless explicitly authorized for disclosure.
  • Respect and protect the privacy of members, ensuring compliance with data protection laws.
  • Do not use confidential information for personal gain or to undermine the club or its members.

3. Expected Behaviours

  • Attend and actively contribute to committee meetings and club events.
  • Value and respect diverse opinions, even when they differ from your own.
  • Avoid and disclose conflicts of interest that may compromise decision-making.
  • Uphold the reputation of Omagh Harriers A.C. through positive and constructive representation.
  • Refrain from any form of discriminatory, harassing, or offensive behaviour.

4. Internal Digital Communication Media

  • Use club-approved platforms (e.g., email, WhatsApp, Teams) for all committee communications to ensure consistency and accountability.
  • Maintain professionalism in tone and language when communicating via digital channels.
  • Ensure digital communications remain respectful, inclusive, and free from offensive or inappropriate content.
  • Do not share confidential discussions, documents, or member information on digital platforms outside the committee without explicit authorization.
  • Avoid engaging in public disputes or criticism of the club, its members, or its policies on social media or other digital forums.
  • Report any misuse of digital communication channels to the Chairperson or relevant committee member.

5. Handling Breaches of the Code

Breaches will be addressed swiftly and fairly by the committee.

Complaints will be investigated impartially, ensuring all parties are treated with respect.

Sanctions for breaches may include:

  • Verbal or written warnings.
  • Temporary suspension from the committee.
  • Permanent removal from the committee, based on the severity of the breach.
  • Serious or unlawful breaches may be escalated to external authorities, as necessary.

6. Acknowledgement

By serving on the committee, you agree to adhere to this Code of Conduct, contributing to the club’s trust, respect, and accountability.
